Reopening plan for 2020-21 school year

Preparations are underway for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Cheatham County School District waded into uncharted territory this past spring. It has been incredible to see how everyone rallied together to care for our students amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As we continue to make plans for the new year, Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck presented our reopening plan to the Cheatham County School Board at its June 25 work session.

An elementary, middle and high school task force, composed of teachers, parents, principals and administrators, helped create the plan.

Our plan is composed of three teaching and learning models: traditional (with a virtual option), hybrid and remote. Our current plan is to start the year under the traditional model.

The implementation of these models will be based on Cheatham County’s COVID-19 active rates as well as other health-related data and attendance numbers.

Should health guidance suggest a path outside of traditional, we will then follow our reopening plan and move to either the hybrid or remote models, with our decision based on data.

Families will receive a survey in the near future and it will be sent to the email of the person who is the household primary point of contact in Skyward.

We encourage all families to complete the survey as soon as possible as it will be imperative for planning purposes.
