New ACESA principal named

The Cheatham County School District is excited to announce that Cheatham Middle School principal Linda Owen will serve as the new Ashland City Elementary STEM Academy principal beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

Owen, who has served as the CMS principal since 2014, will replace Dr. Melinda Broyles at ACESA. Broyles was recently named the district’s new federal programs director – a position she will begin next school year.

Owen graduated from Tennessee State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She received her master's degree in educational leadership in 2009 from Austin Peay State University and obtained her administrative licensure endorsement in 2013.

Owen served nine years with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and has been with the district 18 years. She taught at both Sycamore Middle School and CMS and served one year as the CMS assistant principal before named the school’s principal.

“As an alumni of Ashland City, I am so excited to return as principal. I look forward to working with their amazing team to continue to develop foundational learning in the students,” Owen said.

Owen will begin her new position at ACESA on July 1. A search for her replacement at CMS is currently underway.
