Parenting Today program is April 23

The Cheatham County School District’s Title I Department and School Resource Officers are teaming up to host a free “Parenting Today” program on Tuesday, April 23.

The two-hour program, which will feature a discussion about parenting in today’s world, begins at 6 p.m. at the Educational Annex Board Room, 104 Elizabeth Street in Ashland City.

Among the topics to be discussed include drugs, alcohol, tobacco and nicotine usage, cyberbullying and Internet safety.

Parents of all middle and high school students are encouraged to attend. A light meal will be served. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees to eat.

Family and Community Involvement Coordinator Claudette Fizer said the district is excited to host this program as many parents have requested information about these important issues.

“We recognize the new challenges that we all face as parents with the increased use of technology, the prevalence of social media and the increased demands on our families,” Fizer said. “This program is a great opportunity for our families to hear about and discuss a few of these issues.”

Space is limited so families interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP.
