Intent to Homeschool

The Cheatham County School District strives to be the first choice for families in Cheatham County.

Recognizing that some families will choose to homeschool, we have provided information to assist you in making this educational choice.

Once you have made your decision to independently homeschool your child or children, you will need to complete the following:

• Register with the Homeschool Office by completing the Tennessee Notice of Intent to Home School Form (see below under Attached Files).

• Provide a copy of your child(ren)'s immunizations on the Official Tennessee Certificate of Immunization (T.C.A. 49-6-5001)

• Provide proof of the required education (K-12 grades; high school diploma or GED)

The Tennessee Notice of Intent to Home School serves as notice of your intent to conduct a home school as permitted by T.C.A. 49-6-3050. Parent(s) or legal guardian(s) conducting a home school under the supervision of the superintendent of a local education agency (LEA) must complete the form.

A child must be enrolled each year he or she is homeschooled, and the Notice of Intent to Home School form must be completed and submitted prior to the start of the school year. Should homeschooling be discontinued after enrollment, families must notify the Cheatham County School District.
