Sycamore senior named a National Merit Semifinalist

Sycamore High School senior Daniel Saylor has been named a National Merit Semifinalist.

The National Merit Corporation recently announced the 2020 semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

This is a huge accomplishment as Saylor is one of 16,000 students across the country to earn this honor.

Saylor, who is also a standout basketball player, now has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a U.S. academic scholarship competition established in 1955 that is administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a not-for-profit organization based in Illinois.

About 1.6 million students from 22,000 high schools enter the competition each year.
