SMS principal wins prestigious education award

Sycamore Middle School Principal Robyn Miller has been selected as the 2019-20 recipient of the William J. and Lucille H. Field Award in Support of Excellence in Tennessee Secondary School Leadership.

William and Lucille Field spent a lifetime in service to education in Tennessee.

After graduation from The University of Tennessee, William Field served as a Tennessee school administrator for 29 years. During his 21 years at Columbia High School, Lucille Field joined her husband as the school’s secretary. Together they worked to promote their goal of excellence in education.

In their honor, the Field Award was established in 2001. The money to endow this award was provided by Joy Field Glass and her husband, L. Arnold Glass.

The Field Award for Excellence in Secondary School Leadership is one of the most prestigious awards available to secondary school principals in Tennessee.

This great honor is a tribute to Miller’s leadership, the school she leads and the district in which she works.

Miller will receive the award in late March at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
