High school students attend SCOPE conference

Six high school students from Cheatham County joined hundreds of their peers from across Tennessee in Murfreesboro on March 10 to express their views on public education in the state.

The six attended the Tennessee School Boards Association’s Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) conference.

The conference took place on the Middle Tennessee State University campus.

Cheatham County Central High School delegates were William Angeles and Ansley Pfeffer.

Harpeth High School delegates were Halee McKaskle and Mallary McKaskle.

Sycamore High School delegates were Gracie Butler and Chelsea Stricklin.

The chaperones were Kathryn VanMater (CCCHS), Lee Rector (HHS) and Maggie Fields (SHS).

SCOPE is designed to give students a voice where public education issues are concerned and to involve young people in finding solutions to the topics that are discussed.
