HHS names new boys soccer coach

Alex Galistel has been named the boys soccer coach at Harpeth High School.

Galistel, the librarian at Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School, is no stranger to HHS as he is also the school’s girls soccer coach – a position he has held for the past five years.

He has also been the Harpeth Middle School boys soccer coach for the past six years.

Under Galistel’s leadership, the HHS Lady Indians advanced to the state sectionals the previous two years and the 2019 squad won the school’s first region championship in soccer. He was also nominated for Coach of the Year in District 9-A in 2017 and 2019.

At HMS, the Indians were the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference runners-up in both 2017 and 2018.

Galistel also coached travel soccer for one year before focusing on high school soccer.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to grow the program and also grow as a coach. Being as I’ve coached almost every player, I’m pumped to see the future success for boys soccer at Harpeth,” he said.

HHS athletic director Jimmy Mitchell said of Galistel: “He has success with our girls program, and he does everything we ask him to do and more. We are excited to have him leading the boys program as well.”
