Middle, high schools to remain on hybrid model until Oct. 9

The Cheatham County School District will remain on the traditional model for elementary schools and the hybrid model for middle and high schools until Friday, Oct. 9.

Schools will be closed Oct. 12-16 for fall break.

The Cheatham County community is making some progress in slowing the spread of COVID-19, but the number of active cases indicate it’s too early to allow specifically middle and high school students to return to in-person learning five days a week.

Face masks will continue to be required for students and staff members when they are not able to social distance, and temperatures will be taken as they enter the building.

Other operations, such as daily instruction schedules, transportation, nutrition, daycare, athletics, etc., will continue as they have been since we reopened our schools in August.

A decision to continue on these models will be made the week before fall break and will be based on current COVID-19 numbers in Cheatham County as well as other health-related and attendance data.

The district’s goal is to return all students to in-person instruction daily as soon as possible, while protecting the health and safety of our students, staff members and community.
