SMS moves to remote learning until Nov. 30

There has been an increase in positive COVID-19 cases at Sycamore Middle School, and as a result, the school will be shutting down to help mitigate the spread of the virus.

SMS will transition to remote learning beginning Thursday, Nov. 12.

The date for SMS students to return to school in person will be Monday, Nov. 30 (the Monday after the Thanksgiving break).

During this time, SMS students must log in daily to be counted present and to receive remote assignments. Instructional materials will be available for students without Internet. Additional information regarding academic instruction will be provided by the school.

If a SMS student and/or staff member is being placed on quarantine, they will be contacted directly by the Cheatham County Health Department or school nurse.

No athletic practices/games (including Junior Pro basketball) and extra-curricular activities will be held at SMS. However, practices/games (including Junior Pro basketball) may resume on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The Cheatham Achievers afterschool program will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.

SMS students enrolled in the district’s afterschool daycare program at Pleasant View Elementary School and East Cheatham Elementary School will not attend the program until Monday, Nov. 30.

The weekly food distribution for the north cluster is being cancelled until further notice. If you have any questions regarding the food distribution, please call our nutrition department at 615-746-1411.

It is highly recommended that SMS students stay at home during this time period and not interact with others in the community. If you have concerns, please consult with your family's medical provider.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this together. If you have questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or the SMS leadership team.
