District announces bus ridership program

Starting next week, students in the north cluster (East Cheatham Elementary School, Pleasant View Elementary School, Sycamore Middle School and Sycamore High School) who utilize Cheatham County School District transportation will start using their student ID badges (with barcode) to scan on and off our Cheatham County buses.

The purpose of the new ridership program is to be able to verify the location of our students while on a Cheatham County school bus.

This program will help quickly locate students who have mistakenly boarded an incorrect bus and verify when a student has exited a bus.

In addition, when contact tracing COVID-related issues, this new program will allow us to verify who all rode a specific bus on a specific day.

ID badges will be passed out on Monday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 17 to each hybrid group to test on Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Friday, Dec. 18. Parents are encouraged to help their children keep up with their badges using lanyards, as they will need them every morning and afternoon when entering and exiting the bus.

Our plan is to roll this out districtwide after our winter break.
