The Sycamore High School War Eagle Band welcomes Malik Sylvester as its new director.
Originally from Houston County, Sylvester is a 2021 graduate of Austin Peay State University, where he earned bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in Instrumental K-12/General Music Education.
While at APSU, he served in a variety of leadership positions, including drum major of the Governors Own Marching Band and counselor for an elementary music camp, Camp Granada.
Along with his leadership positions at APSU, Sylvester worked with several high school marching bands during the summer to help prepare them for their competitive season.
Outside of music, he enjoys biking, kayaking, and being outdoors.
Sylvester wants the school and community to know that he is very excited to be joining SHS and is looking forward to working with the students, parents and faculty.
