The Cheatham County School District has named Rachel Long as the academic specialist at Sycamore Middle School.
Long, a 2000 graduate of Cheatham County Central High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in K-8 education from Middle Tennessee State University, a master’s of education degree in administration and supervision from Tennessee State University and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree in curriculum and instruction from MTSU.
Long brings 15 years of experience to SMS. For the past two years, she has been an ELL teacher at Ashland City Elementary STEM Academy and Sycamore High School.
She has also worked in several other school districts in Tennessee and Washington as a classroom teacher, instructional coach and assistant principal.
"I am thrilled to have been selected as the new academic specialist at Sycamore Middle School. I look forward to building new relationships and working together to make SMS an even greater school,” she said.
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, reading, listening to podcasts, traveling, spending time with her family and going on adventures. She lives in the Pleasant View community with her husband, two children and dog.
