We are excited about our new “Kindness Grows Here” program!
• Ashland City Elementary STEM Academy: Colby’s Army. Students collected 450 pairs of gloves and hats for Colby’s Army.
• East Cheatham Elementary School: United Way/Soles4Souls. Students have been collecting shoes for Soles4Souls.
• Kingston Springs Elementary School: South Cheatham Public Library. Activities are planned for the spring.
• Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School: Cheatham County Animal Control. Students have been making treats and blankets for the dogs at Cheatham County Animal Control. Teachers have taken pictures of animals that can be adopted, and Animal Control has posted those pictures on its Facebook page. Animals have also visited the school for various events. The school is planning a canned food drive in January.
• Pleasant View Elementary School: Cheatham County Public Library. Principal Jason Pierschbacher and Assistant Principal Nicole Galbreth have read books at the Cheatham County Public Library. The school has also raised money for various items for the Friends of the Library group.
• West Cheatham Elementary School: The Bethesda Center. The school held a food drive in November.
• Cheatham Middle School: Hillcrest Healthcare Center. Students made Veterans Day cards and collected 162 pairs of socks for the residents of Hillcrest Healthcare Center.
• Harpeth Middle School: The Ark Community Resource Center. Students have collected rolls of toilet paper for The Ark.
• Sycamore Middle School: North Cheatham Civitan Club. Students collected, stored, organized, and stuffed stockings, which were delivered to senior citizens in the community. SMS worked with the North Cheatham Civitan Club on this project.
• Cheatham County Central High School: VantagePointe Village. Band members recently performed an outdoor concert for the residents.
• Harpeth High School: Meals on Wheels. Students have been collecting food and supplies for Meals on Wheels and created turkey grams and Christmas cards that are included with the food deliveries.
• Sycamore High School: Habitat for Humanity. The school started a new Habitat for Humanity student chapter and have met with Habitat representatives to discuss fundraising ideas that will kick off after the winter break. The school will also help with building the next Habitat home in Cheatham County.
• Riverside Academy: Safe Haven. Students collected backpacks and bags for Safe Haven, which assists families dealing with domestic violence.
