Principal, Supervisor of the Year named

The Cheatham County School District has named Sycamore High School’s Dawn Wenning as Principal of the Year and Federal Projects and Pre-K Supervisor Judy Bell as Supervisor of the Year.

Wenning has been an educator for 26 years and has served as the SHS principal since 2019.

During her tenure with the district, she has also served as the principal at Kingston Springs Elementary School, academic specialist at Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School and an English teacher at both Cheatham County Central High School and SHS.

Under Wenning’s leadership, SHS has been named a Level 5 school for the past two years.

Bell has been with the district for 33 years. She started her career in 1990 as a teacher at West Cheatham Elementary School. In 2001, she transferred to Sycamore Middle School, where she taught for three years before being named the school’s principal in 2004.

After seven years as principal, Bell moved into her current supervisor role – a position she has held for the past 12 years.

Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck made the announcement at the Dec. 6 principal meeting.

The two will now go on to compete for Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year, respectively, in the Mid-Cumberland region.
