District launches Summer STEAM Institute

We are thrilled to announce the inaugural Summer STEAM Institute, a dynamic summer project-based learning opportunity exclusively for Cheatham County students entering grades 3-8 in the fall of 2024.

This year's exciting theme, "Mission to Mars," promises an engaging and educational journey into the realms of Rocketry, Robotics, and Interplanetary Habitat Development.

Institute Details

Dates: Monday, June 10 - Thursday, June 13, 2024

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Cost: Free (students must provide their own lunch and transportation)

Mission Control Locations

Sycamore Middle School for North Cluster (Sycamore Middle, East Cheatham Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary)

Ashland City STEM Academy for Central Cluster (Cheatham Middle School, West Cheatham Elementary School, Ashland City STEM Academy)

Harpeth Middle School for Southern Cluster (Harpeth Middle School, Pegram Elementary, Kingston Springs Elementary)

Registration Details

Eligibility: Open to all students entering grades 3-8.

Capacity: Limited to the first 30 students in each grade band at each location.

Transportation: Students will need to provide their own transportation.

During the institute, students will delve into hands-on projects that simulate the challenges and innovations of a mission to Mars. They will work collaboratively to solve problems and create solutions that could one day be part of real Mars expeditions. This is not only a chance to learn but to be part of a community of young innovators and explorers.

To secure your student's spot in this exciting program, please register according to the grade band and cluster associated with your child’s current school location. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to register early to ensure participation.
