Joe Stevenson and Doralicia Rodriguez have been chosen as the Class of 2024 commencement speakers at Sycamore High School.
Stevenson was named Mr. Sycamore High School and served as president of the National Honor Society and was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Student Council, band and drama during his time at SHS. He also served as the co-announcer for SHS football and played soccer his senior year.
Additionally, Stevenson was a 4-H public speaking champion and was a member of the 2024 Civics Bee championship team. He attends Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church.
Stevenson plans to attend Austin Peay State University, where he has earned a Presidential Scholarship. He will major in history and hopes to become a history teacher.
During her time at SHS, Rodriguez has served in a number of leadership roles. She was the Student School Board representative for SHS, Student Council vice president, Mu Alpha Theta secretary, National Honor Society vice president, Tri-M Music Honor Society secretary, Science National Honor Society vice president, HOSA secretary, Music Appreciation president and Sycamore Unified public relations manager.
Additionally, she participated in the S.A.V.E. Club (grades 11-12), FCCLA (grades 10-12), choir (grade 12), newspaper (grades 10-11), Spanish Club (grades 10-12) and marching band (grades 9-11).
Rodriguez plans to enroll in a phlebotomy program this summer. In the fall, she will attend Austin Peay State University and major in Medical Laboratory Science.
The SHS Class of 2024 will graduate on Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at Austin Peay State University's Dunn Center.
