CMS welcomes new academic specialist

The Cheatham County School District has named Sarah Kilgore as the new academic specialist at Cheatham Middle School.

Kilgore has taught for 10 years – all at CMS. She taught eighth-grade math for eight years, seventh-grade science for two years and Algebra I for three years.

A 2010 graduate of Sycamore High School, Kilgore earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education (with a middle grades endorsement) from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Arkansas State University. She is starting her master’s in educational leadership in August at Austin Peay State University.

Kilgore has served as a mentor teacher and has been recognized as a Level 5 math and science teacher during her time at CMS. In 2020, she was named the school’s Teacher of the Year and district-level middle school Teacher of the Year.

“I am so thankful and excited to begin my new role as academic specialist at Cheatham Middle School. I have been fortunate to create some of the best memories and relationships with my former students and co-workers at CMS over the years. I look forward to continuing to support and serve all of the faculty and staff at Cheatham Middle School,” she said.
