Steen comes to SHS from White House Heritage, where he served the past two seasons as the middle school girls head coach and high school girls assistant coach.

He previously served as the head girls coach at Merrol Hyde Magnet School in Hendersonville from 2017-2022. At Merrol Hyde, his team won two district championships and set the school record for wins three times in five years.

Steen’s coaching resume also includes stints as an assistant coach at Donelson Christian Academy from 2015-2017, assistant coach at Pope John Paul II from 2003-2015, freshman coach at Hendersonville High School from 1999-2002 and assistant coach at Volunteer State Community College from 1983-1994.

At Pope John Paul II, his squads advanced to the state tournament final four five years during his career, and at Volunteer State, his 1993 squad advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament and the women’s team won three conference championships.

“I am honored and thankful to have this opportunity to be a part of the Sycamore family. There is a rich tradition, and I'm excited to be a part of it. I am anxious to meet the kids, the parents, and become part of the community,” he said.
