The Cheatham County School District has named Leslie Harrison as the new principal at Sycamore Middle School.
Harrison will replace Robyn Miller, who is taking on the Assistant Director of Schools role for the district.
A native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Harrison is currently the principal at Dickson Middle School, a position she has held since 2019. She was the school’s assistant principal for five years and athletic director for three years before being named principal.
Harrison received her bachelor’s degree in music education at Arkansas State University and her master’s in educational leadership and administration from Trevecca Nazarene University.
She started her teaching career in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at Pine Forest High School teaching chorus, music theory and English I. Because of a military transfer, Harrison and her family moved to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where she taught music at Clarksville Academy and later K-5 music at Montgomery Central Elementary School, a position she held for 16 years.
"I'm so thankful for this new opportunity to be a part of the great work and tradition of Sycamore Middle School. I'm looking forward to building relationships and beginning a great partnership with our staff, students and families in a community that's close to home and already feels like home,” Harrison said.
Sycamore Middle School families and students are welcome to attend a meet and greet on Wednesday, May 14 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to meet the new principal.
