The Cheatham County School District has named Dr. Jordan Reed as the new principal at Riverside Academy and Cheatham County Virtual Academy for the upcoming school year.
Reed will replace Dr. Andrea Bringard, who is moving out of state.
Reed has worked in the education field for 15 years and been employed by the Cheatham County School District since 2021. He has served as Riverside Academy’s middle school English and science teacher for the past four years.
Before joining the district, Reed taught middle school at various schools in Sumner County, Davidson County and Shelby County. Additionally, he has stepped in as administrator at Riverside Academy when Bringard was out of the office.
Reed earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy from Christian Brothers University, a master’s degree in religion from Memphis Theological Seminary and a doctorate degree of education (Ed. D) in administrative leadership and an Education Specialist (Ed. S) degree in administrative leadership from Carson-Newman University. He also completed the Teacher Education Program at Middle Tennessee State University.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as principal of Riverside Academy and Cheatham County Virtual Academy. I bring patience, visibility, and understanding to Riverside, and I look forward to building a sense of community with our virtual students. Alongside our teachers, I will continue working to help students reach their fullest potential,” he said.
An open house for Riverside Academy and Cheatham County Virtual Academy students will be held on Tuesday, August 5. The Riverside Academy open house begins at 5 p.m. and the Cheatham County Virtual Academy open house starts at 6:15 p.m. These are mandatory for all students and at least one parent/guardian.
