District names new CTE/STEAM coordinator

The Cheatham County School District has named Jennifer Reist as its new CTE/STEAM coordinator.

In this role, Reist will oversee the district’s CTE (Career and Technical Education) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programming.

Reist has worked in the education field for 14 years and has served as the academic specialist at Sycamore High School since 2016.

During her time at SHS, the school has been awarded Level 5 status for three years and was named a Reward School in the 2022-23 school year. She has also led sessions at the Tennessee Educational Technology Association and Summer CTE Institute.

Prior to her work in our district, Reist worked at Vanderbilt University for six years as a certified athletic trainer and at Hunters Lane for five years as a Health Science teacher. She has also worked with the Tennessee Department of Education CTE as a CTE new teacher facilitator.

She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Cumberland University.

“As a former CTE teacher, I know the positive impact these programs have on our students firsthand, and I look forward to continuing to see our CTE programs thrive. In my time as the academic specialist, I have learned so much and I look forward to continuing to learn in this new role,” she said.
