The Cheatham County School District has named Shelly Greer as the new academic specialist at Sycamore High School.
Greer is beginning her 14h year with the district and she has spent the last 13 years at Sycamore High School teaching all levels of English, sponsoring the yearbook and Student Government, and serving as the English department chair.
Greer has served as a mentor teacher to four student teachers from Austin Peay State University, as well as mentored several new teachers in her department.
Greer was recognized in May 2025 as one of the top six educators in the student growth index in the entire Cheatham County School District. She has also been recognized as a Level 5 teacher several years and was the 2018-2019 SHS Teacher of the Year.
"I am humbled by this opportunity to work with my peers whom I utterly respect. Saying goodbye to the classroom has been a tough decision, but I hope I can continue to improve student outcomes in my new role. I am looking forward to learning and helping SHS grow,” she said.
