Jazzy Nichols and Madolyn Sheler have been selected as the student commencement speakers for the Sycamore High School Class of 2026.
Nichols, who was named Miss SHS, has been involved in a variety of activities during her four years at SHS.
She is a member of the school’s 30+ACT Club, scoring a 31 on the test, and she received her associate’s degree from Austin Peay State University in December.
Nichols served as president of the Technology Student Association and earned several state TSA awards, including first place in Photographic Technology and second place in Prepared Presentation and Future Technology Teacher.
Additionally, Nichols served as co-editor-in-chief of the SHS yearbook, president of the Pep Club and co-founder of the Tristin Franklin Foundation. She has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity, Student Government, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society.
She also was a member of the school’s Civics Bee and STEAM competition teams and represented SHS on the Director of Schools’ Advisory Council and as a Student School Board representative.
Nichols plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in the fall dual-majoring in accounting and engineering, pursuing the Haslam College of Business Honors Discovery Experience. She then plans on attending law school and becoming a corporate attorney.
Sheler was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and a member of the Pep Club for four years. Additionally, she participated in the school’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program.
Sheler plans to attend Vol State Community College and major in radiologic technology.
The SHS graduation is Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. at Austin Peay State University’s Dunn Center.
