The Cheatham County School District has named Stefanie Davenport as its new Special Education supervisor.
Davenport, who will begin the position on July 1, has worked in the education field for 36 years and has served as the Student Support Services Lead in Williamson County Schools since 2014.
Born in DeKalb, Illinois, Davenport grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education K-12 and General Education K-8 from Purdue University and Master of Arts degree in Psychology/Behavioral Science from Valparaiso University.
Davenport served as a Special Education teacher at Wheeler High School in Porter County, Indiana from 1990-2004. After moving to Tennessee, she was a Special Education teacher at Sycamore Middle School and Supervising Teacher (county wide) from 2004-2014.
Davenport and her husband, Jerry, who is also an educator, have two daughters, Katie, 18, and Olivia, 15.
“I could not be more excited to return to Cheatham County as the Special Education supervisor and so look forward to building a strong student support system for all students. Cheatham County has the most wonderful educational leaders, teams, parents, and students, and I can't wait to see all we'll accomplish together. It really does feel like coming home!” she said.
