Special Olympics ready for another successful year

Special Olympics Area 29 of Cheatham County provides sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and delayed adaptive skills.

Special Olympics provides athletes continued opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, typical peers and the community.

Events are offered throughout the year at the state level and include flag football, basketball, track and field, tennis, volleyball, powerlifting and many more.

In addition to the state events, there are events specific to Cheatham County, including a nature hike, Valentine’s dance and the county-wide spring track and field games at Harpeth Middle School.
