Cheatham County Education Hall of Fame 2026

The Cheatham County School District is proud to announce the selections for the sixth class of the Cheatham County Education Hall of Fame.

Eleven individuals who made their mark in the district will be inducted into the Class of 2026 Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Thursday, October 22 at 6 p.m. at Cheatham Middle School’s Norma Beshears Multi-Purpose Room. The ceremony is open to the public.

The district created the Hall of Fame in 2021 to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the educational community in Cheatham County.

Members of this year’s class are:

• Angela Bell, a teacher at Ashland City Elementary School, Sycamore Junior High School, Sycamore Intermediate School, Sycamore Middle School and Pleasant View Elementary School.

• Mena Bell, a teacher at Ashland City Elementary School, Sycamore Intermediate School and Sycamore Middle School.

• Bruce Gibbs, a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Cheatham County Central High School and two-time superintendent of schools.

• Carter Grizzard, a teacher at Pleasant View Elementary School and Cheatham County Central High School and principal at Pleasant View Elementary School and East Cheatham Elementary School

• Bess Jordan, a teacher at Marrowbone School and Ashland City Elementary School and superintendent of schools

• Teresa Lee, a teacher at Cheatham County Central High School and East Cheatham Elementary School.

• Carolyn Lockert, a teacher at East Cheatham Elementary School, Ashland City Elementary School, Pleasant View Elementary School and Sycamore Middle School.

• Laura Mallernee, teacher at Cheatham County Central High School and Harpeth High School.

• Carol Petty, a teacher at Cheatham County Central High, Sycamore High School and Harpeth High School

• Steve Roach, a teacher at West Cheatham Elementary School and Sycamore Junior High School, assistant principal at Sycamore Junior High School and principal at the Cheatham County alternative school.

• Christy White, a teacher at Pleasant View Elementary School, Pegram Elementary School and Kingston Springs Elementary School.

A committee has been established to select the Hall of Fame class, and nominations for next year's class are being accepted through June 30, 2026.

Eligibility requirements for nominees include: 

• Been retired from the CCSD a minimum of 5 years at the time of consideration. 

• Have been employed for a minimum of 20 years and must have distinguished themselves by demonstrating exceptional leadership, character and achievement during his/her tenure for the CCSD.

• Posthumous nominations will be accepted.

• Brief personal biography of nominee (dates of service and positions held during career).

• Brief narrative of significant educational contributions of the nominee.
