Coordinated School Health is an effective system designed to connect health with education. This coordinated approach improves children’s health and their capacity to learn through the support of families, communities and the schools working together.

The goal of Coordinated School Health in Cheatham County is to establish awareness in all 13 schools that students are empowered to make choices regarding their personal health and well-being.

The Coordinated School Health approach consists of eight major components: health education, health services, counseling, psychological and social services, nutrition, physical education/physical activity, school staff wellness, healthy school environment and student/ parent/community involvement.

The department oversees the Cheatham County School District’s nine school nurses and works closely with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office and our School Resource Officers. We are fortunate to have an SRO in each of our schools.
